Valeriana (Valeriana officinalis L.) is a tall perennial herb of the genus Valeriana in the family Lonicerae. The plant is 40~150 cm tall; the stems are erect and angular, hirsute; the leaves are pinnately divided with toothed margins; the flowers are purplish red or pink; the corolla is campanulate; the achenes are long ovate; the flowering period is May~July; the fruiting period is June~October.
