Aguaje Powder is an Amazonian fruit containing a high content of beta-carotene and phytoestrogens. Its palm tree is rich with the highest CO2
capture on the planet. Most of them is from forestry or wild collection.
It is called the “tree of life” by the native Amazonian peoples call, due to its multiple health benefits. Aguaje is a symbol to non-timber
forest resource of enormous potential in the South American region.

Research shows that, aguaje (Mauritia flexuosa) is a rich source of energy and nutrients, enriched with one of the highest plant
sources of vitamin A as carotenoids. It is five times greater than carrots.
The pulps of the Aguaje also rich with ascorbic acid from 50 ~60 mg/100g, the contents phytoestrogens and oleic acids which
are very crucial in human nutrition, especially for women and especially in menopause.

The fruit is consumed raw or processed into a variety of products (e.g. beverages, ice cream, ice pops, etc.) and recent estimates suggest that residents of Iquitos consume approximately 148.8 metric tons of aguaje fruit per month, the vast majority of which is harvested by the felling and killing of adult female trees in the forest.
According to the Maijuna (people from the amazon)there are three different varieties of M. flexuosa ,are found growing near the Maijuna lands and they are classified based on the color of their fruit pulp: red aguaje, yellow aguaje and white aguaje.
