Methyl salicylate is a colorless or light yellow oily liquid with the fragrance of holly leaves. It is soluble in ethanol and ether, slightly soluble in water, and easily discolored when exposed to air. Methyl ortho hydroxybenzoate, also known as methyl salicylate or methyl salicylate, is an organic compound with the chemical formula C8H8O3.
It is a colorless to pale yellow transparent liquid with a strong aroma of holly oil.
