Product Introduction

Tween 80, made from the polymerization of sorbitan monooleate and ethylene oxide. It is a light yellow to orange-yellow viscous liquid with a slight odor, a slightly bitter and astringent taste, and a warm feeling. Tween 80 is a hydrophilic surfactant, which has a strong effect of breaking cell membranes. And cause irritation, hemolysis and histamine release.

Tween 80 is easily soluble in water, soluble in ethanol, vegetable oil, ethyl acetate, methanol, toluene, and insoluble in mineral oil. It becomes gelatinous at low temperature and recovers after being heated. Mainly used in petroleum, chemical, plastic, machinery, paint, leather, cosmetics and other industries.

Function and Application

Tween 80 is a non-ionic surfactant with significant resistance to electrolytes and strong hydrophilicity. . It has good emulsifying effect on vegetable oil, mineral oil, animal fat, etc. As a wetting agent, it can improve the wettability of the surface of drug particles. It is used in hydrophobic water-based tablets to facilitate the penetration of water and accelerate the disintegration rate. In addition, its solubilization and deflocculation can improve drug dissolution.

Used as emulsifier, wetting agent, penetrating agent, diffusing agent, etc.

1）Polyurethane foam production industry: used as stabilizer, emulsifier, and auxiliary foaming agent.

2）Textile fiber industry: Tween 80 can be used as an antistatic agent, used as an oil for nylon and viscose cords, and is an intermediate of chemical fiber oil. In the process of fabric waterproofing, silicone oil is used to emulsify silicone oil, which has a good effect. It is used as a water-soluble emulsifier and is often mixed with S-80.

3）Movie film: It is used as a wetting agent and dispersing agent in the film film made of photosensitive material.

4）Oilfield industry: It is often used in oil exploration and transportation as oilfield emulsifier, wax inhibitor, heavy oil wetting, drag reducing agent, and near-well zone treatment agent.

5）Metal industry: used for precision machine tools to modulate lubricating coolant, etc.

6）Used as emulsifier, dispersant, stabilizer, diffusing agent, lubricant, softener, antistatic agent, rust inhibitor, finishing agent, viscosity reducer, etc. in detergent production and metal surface antirust cleaning .

7）Food industry: food grade Tween 80 can be used as food emulsifier, can be used in candy, cake, bread, etc.
