What is Vitamin A Acetate A(Retinol)?

Vitamin A acetate, chemical name as retinol acetate, is the earliest vitamin being discovered. There are two types of Vitamin A:one is retinol which is the initial form of VA, it only exists in animals; another one is carotene. Retinol can be composited by β-carotene coming from plants. Inside the body, under the catalysis of β-carotene-15 and 15′-double oxygenase, β-carotene is transformed into ratinal which is returned to retinol by the performance of ratinal reductase. Thus β-carotene is also called as vitamin precursor.

Function：

Vitamin A is widely used in products such as moisturisers, lotions, body butters, shampoos, conditioners, gels and scrubs. It is particularly good for anti-aging formulations.
Vitamin A is for cosmetic use only. By law, not more than 1% can be added to cosmetic formulations.

Retinyl acetate is a natural form of vitamin A which is the acetate ester of retinol. It has potential antineoplastic and chemopreventive activities. In the United States, retinyl acetate is classified generally recognized as safe in the amounts used to fortify foods with vitamin.

Application :

Vitamin A Palmitate helps skin make its own retinol. Pumping up the skin-renewal process, it turbo-boosts skin cell turnover and helps regenerate collagen and elastin. Basically, it ensures that skin is blooming with health.

Vitamin A Acetate improves the firmness and resilience of the skin. It has an anti-wrinkling effect and helps to regenerate UV- damaged skin. Skin thickness increases significantly, caused by an increase in collagen and procollagen production. It also increases skin cell growth to heal lesions and scars.

Retinyl Palmitate VS Retinol:
Retinyl Palmitate is a gentle form of Retinol that is less likely to cause irritation compared to other forms. It's a good choice for those with sensitive skin or those who are new to using Retinol-based products.
While Retinyl Palmitate is better for sensitive skin, other forms such as Retinol esters and retinoic acid are stronger and more effective in treating ageing skin. However, these forms of Retinol can also cause skin irritation, dryness, and redness, especially for those with sensitive skin. Additionally, these forms of Retinol are more unstable and are more likely to degrade or oxidise, which can reduce their effectiveness over time.
