Terminalia chebula is the fruit of the Terminalia tree. Terminalia is a large tree of the family Junziceae and the genus Myrobalan, 15 meters high or higher, with brownish-black bark, longitudinally cracked and peeling off. Terminal fruit is oval, often slightly flattened, with 2 ribs, with wing-like narrow edges on the ribs, slightly acuminate at both ends, woody skin, hard, blue-black when ripe, flowering period 3-6 months, fruiting period 7- September.
