Matrine is a kind of alkaloid extracted and isolated from Sophora japonica, a plant of the genus Sophora genus, mainly oxymatrine, and contains a small amount of oxymatrine. Oxymatrine is the main active ingredient in matrine's whitening effect. It has the functions of clearing heat and removing dampness, diuresis and detoxification, improving hepatitis symptoms and signs, reducing jaundice and reducing enzymes. It can inhibit the replication of hepatitis B virus, induce endogenous interferon, protect liver cells, improve liver function, resist liver fibrosis, increase white blood cells and resist tumors. It is suitable for the treatment of chronic hepatitis B, as well as leukopenia caused by tumor radiotherapy, chemotherapy and leukopenia caused by other reasons. This product is an antiviral drug developed and produced in my country. It can induce interferon α in the body, and can make the serum HBeAg and (or) HBV DNA negative in chronic hepatitis B patients, and the serum sperm alanine aminotransferase decreases. Interferon is similar.

Oxymatrine, an alkaloid component extracted from the roots of Sophora genus, has been shown to have anti-inflammatory, anti-fibrotic and anti-tumor effects, as well as the ability to prevent myocardial damage, among others. Potential signaling pathways involved in the clinical application of oxymatrine may include TGF-β/Smad, tolllike receptor 4/activating B cell nuclear factor kappa-light chain enhancer, toll-like receptor 9/TRAF6, Janus kinase/signal transduction and Transcriptional activator, phosphatidylinositol-3 kinase/Akt, delta-opioid receptor - Bcl-2, CD40, epidermal growth factor receptor, nuclear factor erythrocyte-2-related factor 2/heme oxygenase-1 signaling pathway, and the dimethylarginine dimethylaminohydrolase/asymmetric dimethylarginine metabolic pathway [1]. Oxymatrine significantly inhibited the proliferation of DU145 and PC-3 cell lines in a time- and dose-dependent manner. In contrast, PNT1B-healthy human prostate cell proliferation was not inhibited after treatment with oxymatrine.

1. Diuretic effect

Decoction in test tube, high concentration (1:100) has inhibitory effect on Mycobacterium tuberculosis. Decoction (8%) decoction has different degrees of inhibition on some common skin fungi in vitro.

3. Other functions

Matrine injection in rabbits: found the phenomenon of central nervous system paralysis, convulsions, and finally died of respiratory arrest. Injected into frogs: initially excited, then paralyzed, breathing becomes slow and irregular, and finally convulsions occur, resulting in death by cessation of breathing. The onset of the spasticity is due to spinal reflexes.
